Revised start time creates unfamiliarity

Commuting by bus traditionally required more patience for middle schoolers as they waited for older students being dropped off first.
However, a sense of fairness endured with knowledge that their time for priority would arrive.
Recent changes have rearranged the ‘pecking order.’ Now, buses drop off middle schoolers at Sperreng first, while high schoolers must wait. [ More ]

Printing quality terribly low

While it is not commonly known, Pilot has
won several (even numerous) prestigious awards for quality of content
and design. However, a consistently sighted problem, with the newsmagazine, is in-house printing. Every issue, the Pilot staff must call
upon LHS’s Copy Center to produce all copies. [ More ]

Stepping it up: graduation requirements increase

New graduation requirements for the Class of ‘10 is an adjustment from the previous years:
Four units of English, three units of science, social science, and math
are some of the requirements that are higher for the Class of ‘10.
Also, seven units of electives, plus an extra Health Class, and a
Personal Financial Management course have been added.

No longer ignoring reality, teenage sex is a fact

Like bombs exploding daily, students are faced with graphic sexual
images on television, in movies and in music. Students have become
forced to either accept these messages as their own lifestyle, or
ignore them.
Every student has to come to realize that sex is a realistic factor
that is prominent in high school, but it is their own decision whether
or not to do it. In a National Youth Risk Behavior survey in 2005
conducted by the Department of Health and Human Services, 46.8% of high
school students have had sex.

play on a team where some players have been together during previous
years. There's good communication and everything works out better,"
